DM Manual

Westwild Alpha Table Guide

Run the current build: DM Session Deck, The World, player decks, campaign scenes, travel, combat, town, and end-session updates.

What To Open

  1. Open the DM Session Deck.
  2. Open The World from the DM deck if you want a clean stream-facing screen.
  3. Open one or more Player Decks for phone or local testing.
  4. Keep the Gazette nearby for canon and rule truth.

Quest Flow

  1. Travel with /travel LOCATION until the posse reaches the required scene location.
  2. Run /quest to inject the room shell, quest hook, NPCs, and trouble into The World.
  3. Use the Q1, Q2, and Q3 scene buttons after the scene is active.
  4. If the scene has a cutscene, use /ccstart and /ccend.
  5. Use Advance Part after the scene resolves and you are ready to move the spine forward.

Travel

Travel stays intentionally light. Use /travel LOCATION or the travel browser on the Quest panel. Direct routes are mapped, ration use is automatic, HP and Grit reset on new travel days, and ammo does not reset.

Combat

  • Open Combat mode and summon the enemies you need.
  • Players submit actions from their deck. The DM approves or rejects them.
  • If a player device fails, use the DM fallback controls on that player row.
  • Cover is free. Distance costs a turn. Long Rifles ignore distance. Shotguns suffer harder at distance.
  • Use Next Round to push combat forward and refresh round-based enemy behavior.

Town And Camp

Town is McGinty’s territory: buying, selling, gearing, and later material exchange. Camp is scene-limited and lighter: recover, swap what you are carrying, and eventually render field recipes only. Camp is not a shop.

Campaigns

Two starter campaigns come in the download pack. Open The World, choose a campaign zip, and press Launch Campaign. See the README in the pack. A campaign builder is in development and is not part of this release.

Character Packages

The Character Builder no longer forces the file download the instant packaging finishes. It prepares the package, then gives the player a button to download it when ready, which helps avoid browser weirdness and accidental misses.

End Session

  • Use End Session from the DM Session Deck.
  • The current build prepares updated player package downloads.
  • Players can pull their updated file from their own deck, and the DM can also see the generated package list.
